Carondelet Impressions Rising

Twice now in the past 24 hours, I have heard the name, "Carondelet" on the radio. This is more than I can remember hearing it in the past 6 months. And this is only the beginning.

The new River City Casino is about to open, and advertisements on major radio stations are telling people to exit I-55 at the Carondelet or Germania exits.

Everytime you hear the name Carondelet or Germania, you are reminded of those south city landmarks. This is a good thing.

Casino activity will increase traffic into the area, and that will be good for local businesses.

Maybe casino goers will wander into the awesome Patch neighborhood and enjoy a drink or dine at the Ivory, Patch or Riverside Cafes.

Also casino workers. The new casino is going to have over 1,000 employees.

I'm not a fan of casinos, but if they bring more people and traffic to an area, that's got to be a plus for retail activity.

I absolutely think that the casino will bring better things to my poor little Patch neighborhood! It would be my great hope that those buildings right at the corner of Lemay & RCC Blvd that are such an eyesore could be restored & turned into some nice shops. And also it would be awesome if the area over by the Ivory Theatre could become a nice little place to shop & hang out, within walking distance of my house! ;)
