San Francisco Visits St. Louis

If you've never been to Northern California, the weather in STL today is just like a winter day in San Francisco: temperature about 50 degrees, light rain and a light breeze. Nothing too exciting. Just all-day gray and cool. That's about it.

For those who don't know, Castro is the huge gay neighborhood of San Francisco.

Before Castro, Polk Street was more the center of gay activity, and it was more underground.

Polk Street was a popular area for gays and straights. Locals knew gays frequented Polk Street, but it was a place that attracted everyone.

Castro tends to be a pretty exclusive gay enclave. Straights are welcome there, but they are definitely outnumbered.

St. Louis doesn't really have a "gay neighborhood". Maybe the closest would be the Grove stretch of Manchester?
