Nice.
"An animate creation". In today's modern parlance it would sound like this: "Dude, thing was like, huuuge! Sick, bro!" Anywho. I read an article several years ago positing the theory that the populations of humans present at that time may have hunted these massive animals to extinction. That theory has been much disputed. Either way, it would seem that the presence of the remains of several of these creatures at one location may indicate a site at which multiple animals were killed by humans. Or perhaps it was a sinkhole or pit into which the unfortunate animals fell.
We need to figure out a way to capitalize on this history.
How about a life sized statue of a mastodon installed downtown?
