Southwest is a generic description for a huge hunk of the City. South of 44 and west of Kingshighway is commonly referred to as the City's Southwest: Wards 10th, 12th, 16th, 23rd, 24th Wards and Nabes Boulevard Hts, Clifton Hts, Ellendale, The Hill, Kingshighway Hills, Lindenwood, Princeton, Southampton, Southwest Gardens, St. Louis Hills, Tilles Park.

Southwest has less than desirable connotations because it is often mistakenly used to describe the City's most influential last bastion of less than progressive politics and lacking racial, ethnic, religious diversity. While that's a very apt description for Francis Park/St. Gabe's, most of the larger remaining area of Southwest is changing for the better. We are enjoying the enrichment to quality of life when our blocks are inhabited by people who do not all look alike, sound alike, worship alike, includes gays/lesbians, etc.

Call it Francis Park CID or St. Gabe's CID but don't be dragging the rest of us into it with Southwest CID.

Thanks, Rick, for providing the linky to the artwork. Sure has that white folk playground country club look.
